Town of Melnik is a district town in the Central region about 30 km north of Prague. It is located on the right bank opposite the estuary of the Elbe river.

The historical center is located on higher grand bypassing by the creek Psovka. (10min.)

Castle, originally a medieval fortress from which was maintained the domed hall in the West Wing and the gate from 15th. century. After 1550 was built up the Renaissance loggia of the northwing, in 1690 the south wing with arcades and after 1925 the wine-cellar with covered teracce. (10 min.)

On the look-out of the western wing you can find statue of Charles IV. made by the sculptor Josef Max in 1878. (10 min.)

City hall which was originally a reeve from 1398, since 1449 City hall, rebuilt after a fire in 1793 and again in 1889 and 1941. (10 min.)

Gothic aisled church of St. Peter and Paul originally Romanesque from 11th. century from which was preserved the lower part of the tower. Rebuilt in the years 1480–1488 (arch of the ship and the tower) and since 1516 (new presbytery, vault of the main ship and the crypt). In the chancel is a sanctuary from 1530 and Renaissance bench. In the sacristy is the tomb of Provost John Landstejn from the 1389. Charnel-house with the remains of about 15,000 people. (10 min.)

Melnik Regional Museum is housed in the former Capuchin monastery, originally a town house originating from the 2nd half of 14th century in the square of historical city center. The museum specializes in history of baby strollers and viniculture in the Czech Republic. (10 min.)

Underground areas – not only because of viniculture the Melnik hill is interwoven network of underground space, which is gradually made to be acessible. As an example it may serve the widest well in the Czech Republic.
